The founder of Rise Again Jamaica Inc., alongside a dedicated volunteer team, recently traveled to Jamaica with one goal in mind: to serve families who are still struggling in the wake of Hurricane Melissa. While many headlines have faded and the world has moved on, the reality for families in underserved communities is that recovery is still happening every single day.

The team traveled into communities across St. James, where families are still living in heartbreaking conditions, homes with leaking roofs, unfinished walls, and dirt and gravel floors. What they witnessed were families doing everything they can just to survive another day.

"Seeing the conditions these families live in reminded the team why this mission matters so much."

One of the most emotional parts of the trip was meeting mothers who continue fighting for their children despite losing almost everything. One mother in particular left a lasting impression on the entire team. After losing everything during the hurricane, she had built a small shelter using scrap materials just to keep her children safe. Through Rise Again Jamaica Inc., the team was able to purchase building materials to help strengthen and rebuild part of her home, giving her family a safer place to live and sleep.

This mission was not only about rebuilding homes. It was also about restoring hope.

A School Full of Light

The team had the opportunity to visit Chatsworth Primary & Infant School, an underserved school filled with some of the most respectful, hardworking, and loving children the volunteers had ever met. Despite the school facing challenges like damaged wooden floors and limited access to clean running water, teachers continue to show up every day with passion and dedication for their students.

Thanks to generous supporters and donors, Rise Again Jamaica Inc. was able to provide food assistance, essential supplies, and sponsor graduation fees for students whose families could not afford them. Watching those children smile was a powerful reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone's future forever.

Supplies, Dignity & Presence

The mission also included organizing and distributing humanitarian supplies, food items, hygiene products, baby essentials, and clothing, to families in need. Every donation the organization receives helps the team continue showing up for communities that are often forgotten.

A Promise Kept

The founder of Rise Again Jamaica Inc. grew up in Jamaica in a small one-bedroom home with a dirt floor. That lived experience drives every mission the organization undertakes. Knowing what it feels like to struggle, and to rely on the kindness of others, the organization was built on a promise: to help others when the opportunity arises.

Rise Again Jamaica Inc. was created from that promise.

The entire team extends heartfelt gratitude to every donor, volunteer, supporter, and person who shared their posts or encouraged their mission. But the work is far from over.
